Adventures on the Alsek and Tatshenshini rivers, Alaska.
Shot in the summer of 2024 while guiding two trips in Alaska, one on the Alsek River, and one on the Tatshenshini. This short serves as a promotional video for Wilderness River Outfitters, hopefully enticing clients to book future trips in this magical place. I was guiding and filming on these tips and given the workload, trying to juggle both jobs, I’m really happy with how this turned out.
Adventures in Mexico
Finding the Limit was filmed in conjunction with my friend Santiago Shagun Cota. A Mexican native started an outdoor education company based in Guadalajara called Limit Academy.
During my two-month stay, we traveled all around northern Mexico. Exploring the amazing rock climbing, mountain biking, and surfing that this country has to offer. I helped him guide and teach students while also filming this mini-doc for the launch of his company! It was truly an amazing experience Viva Mexico!
Westminster University, Desolation Canyon Field Study
Made for Westminster University to highlight the amazing field learning opportunities provided by the university. On this particular trip, the class ventured on a six-day river trip through Desolation Canyon on the Green River, discussing the many economic, social, and environmental concerns pertinent to this region’s watershed. This trip serves as an opportunity for students to interact with the subject matter they have been studying in classrooms in a real and tangible environment where academics and the physical world intersect.
I helped run a boat on the trip while also shooting this short piece. The goal was to highlight the unique opportunities Westminster provides its students through field-based learning.
Wilderness rafting promotional video
I work for Wilderness River Outfitters as a commercial river guide during the summer months in Idaho and Montana. This was a project that my boss asked me to make because he needed a promotional video for this specific river trip. I guided on the trip while also shooting as much as I could and this is what I came up with!
Overflow explores the cultural significance of plastics, urging people to take a step back and examine the impacts of a plastics-obsessed society.
This project was the product of my documentary class at SLCC. I directed this film while working with the help of six other incredible classmates. Overflow was an amazing learning opportunity, demonstrating that when I put my mind to a project I can create something impactful. I learned a lot and, looking back, I made mistakes, but overall I’m proud of the film and the message it carries.
